$200,000 Charlie Hill Trot won a prize list

Columbus, Ohio – Cuatro De Julio (Trixton) etched his name in Eldorado Scioto Downs history with his record-breaking performance in the $200,000 Charlie Hill Memorial for Aged Harness Racing Trotters on Saturday (Sept. 10).

Cuatro De Julio and driver Yannick Gingras set track record

Getting the call for the first time, driver Yannick Gingras took advantage of Cuatro De Julio’s early speed out of the gate. They briefly found a pocket headed for the opening quarter: 26.3. Passing the clubhouse for the first time, Cuatro De Julio decided following was not his style and stopped first. After easily taking control of the pack, the 4-year-old posted fractions remaining in :55.2 and 1:23.0 before tripping over the wire in a new senior horse trotting track record in 1: 51.1.

Cuatro De Julio beat second-choice Lovedbythemasses (Andrew McCarthy) 9-2 by two lengths with Kings County (Brett Miller) finishing third.

Kings County held the previous track record of 1:51.4, set earlier this year.

CUARTO BY JULIO REPLAY

The win marks the first Grand Circuit win for Cuarto De Julio of 2022. With $849,541 in the bank, the horse has 15 career wins for trainer Marie Ortolan Bar. Cuarto De Julio is owned in partnership by its packer as well as D Farm LLC.

The annual attendance is held in memory of Scioto Downs founder and Hall of Fame track manager Charles Hill.

Live racing resumes Tuesday, September 13 at Eldorado Scioto Downs. The first post is at 3:15 p.m. For more information on the facility and the live racing season, visit the Eldorado Scioto Downs website.
