Atomic Heart still appears to be on track for a 2022 release

atomic heart is a new first-person sci-fi action RPG set in a futuristic alternate history of the 1950s Soviet Union. Earlier this year, we received a truly impressive trailer (in Russian) which features its evocative art style and BioShock-inspired gameplay. With no news on the game since then, the “#######BER 2022” release date still seems to be on the cards.

The reason we say that is because it appeared on this recent Xbox map released on Monday which highlights all the games coming over the next 12 months. A stacked list to be sure, but right there halfway through 2022 sits Atomic Heart, on track for a 2022 release on Xbox Game Pass (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S). Atomic Heart is also coming to PC (Steam), PS5, and PS4.

Atomic Heart comes from Russian studio Mundfish and has been in development for several years now. On the PC side, it was one of the first titles to announce real-time ray tracing powered by GeForce RTX, so chances are it’s in the final finishing stages.

And with that, here’s that awesome trailer from a few months ago.

Set in an alternate version of the 1950s, Atomic Heart’s story is set in a Soviet Union in which robotics and other advanced technologies were developed during World War II. This world is not so far from the ideals that humanity is fighting for today: a happy society, the power of science, perfect cities with green and sunny parks and squares, the automation of life daily life, the desire to explore the stars…these things could be just around the corner. But let’s take a look at the dark underside of this ideal world – what if all this had already happened? And where could that lead?
