Many people have asked us, “how can I recover my emails on my iPhone?” Whether you randomly deleted it, moved it here, or are having trouble finding your All Inboxes inbox, we can help!

Check screen time

When Apple released iOS 12, Restrictions moved to Screen Time, a part of the Settings app dedicated to helping users reduce iPhone usage. Restrictions are basically an iPhone’s parental controls. You can restrict specific apps, app store purchases, certain content based on their rating, and more.

When you limit apps on Screen Time, they disappear from the home screen. The Mail app may not be on your iPhone because its use has been restricted.

Open Settings and tap Screen Time. Scroll down and tap Privacy & Content Restrictions. Finally, tap Allowed apps and make sure the switch next to Mail is turned on. If the switch is off, Mail will not appear on the home screen.

Reinstall the messaging app

If you don’t see Mail in Settings -> Screen Time -> Content & Privacy Restrictions -> Allowed Apps, it’s probably because the app was uninstalled on your iPhone. Although Mail comes pre-installed on all iPhones, it is possible to remove this app.

Open the App Store and tap the Search tab in the lower right corner of the screen. Then type Mail. The messaging app you are looking for should be the first result, unless there is an advertisement.

Tap the cloud icon to reinstall Mail on your iPhone. Once the installation is complete, the Mail app will return to its usual place on your iPhone’s home screen.
