Racing will continue at Sandown as the course passed an inspection after heavy rain on Sunday.

The inspection was called at 10.45am after at least 25mm hit the track in the morning and resulted in several hurdles and fences being missed for the seven-race map.

Race director Andrew Cooper confirmed the race would take place shortly after 11 a.m. but warned more rain could be expected later in the day.

He said: “We’ve had an inch of rain since the first thing this morning. There are potentially further heavy showers in the forecast, and in that regard we will continue to monitor, but we are certainly in for a welcome interlude. a few hours now.

“We miss the first obstacle on the backstretch and a number of chasing fences, mostly water related on take-off and landing. We miss the ditch and the three rail fences aft and we Je I’m going to completely miss the double jump in front of the stands.

“The alternative is not to race and we think it is better to proceed on this basis, even if it is far from perfect.

The terrain is currently heavy, soft in places on the obstacle course and soft, good to soft in places on the hunt course. The first race is scheduled for 12:50 p.m.

The main event of the match, the Listed Future Stars Intermediate Chase (2.35), sees two-time Grade 2 winner Pic D’Orhy attempt three miles for the first time.
