Determined to do something more, Access Bank in 2020, ditched its usual mobile banking app to launch AccessMore. According to the company, the app is an innovative mobile payment application that offers “more than a banking experience”.
The goal, like any other banking app, is to make banking easier and more convenient for its customers. The application is built on state-of-the-art technology, providing tailored and personalized services, and ease of use for bank customers.
One of the cool features of the AccessMore app is that it allows a customer to open an account without being physically present at the bank.
However, two years later, it has been a mixed bag of experiences for users of this app. While for some it’s the best so far, for others the “more” isn’t enough.

What users say
For Robinson Samuel, the app is great and ticks a lot of boxes, but can be better in a few areas. “Beautiful user interface and experience. Not too big, not too loose. But have trouble with fingerprint unlock as it takes about a minute to respond only on this app. Either way, it’s literally the best.
Oluwafunmilayo Adebimpe Adeyemi said of his experience with the app: “The AccessMore mobile app is indeed an upgrade of the old app. It works well and the user experience is excellent. What I don’t like is getting an email every time you log into the app. I don’t see the relevance in fact, that’s a lot of emails.
In another user review, Folayemi Esther said: “Very practical and easy to use. You might want to check your live chat field as I was queued for over 30 minutes and in the end no agent attended to me. It’s not encouraging. Let us know if there is no agent available instead of queuing one and wasting your time and battery.
However, the experience wasn’t as good for Olatosi Emmanuel, who felt the old Access mobile app was better than AccessMore. “Access mobile app is much better than this app. My challenge with this app is that when you try to log in it takes forever. I was never able to connect using my MTN data network regardless of my location, which was never the case with the access mobile app. Connection is only possible when I use Spectranet. I don’t understand why this happens. Sometimes I feel like deleting this app, but when you’re the type to use online rather than walk-in, you have no choice but to endure.
For Gift Madojemu, the application is very heavy. “It’s not easy, I have two accounts that are not automatically linked to the app, why hasn’t this happened? then there is a problem with integrating old Diamond Bank users with Access, giving continuous error messages and frustrating the user.
With an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Google Play and 5 out of 5 on Apple Store, the application undoubtedly meets the expectations of bank customers. But the problems experienced by some customers cannot be isolated from the overall performance of the application.
