Richmond, Virginia— The Spiders will receive one final tune-up this week ahead of next weekend’s Atlantic 10 Championships hosted by VCU on May 7-8.
Saturday will find the 4×800 of the Spiders of Brooke Fazio, Rachel Helbling, Kate McAndrew and Kendra Smith at the Penn Relays presented by Toyota. This is the 126th edition of the premier East Coast meet which was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.
Also competing in the Penn Relays, Spider’s alumnus Maria Acosta will compete in the Olympic 800m development race. Olympic development events are designed for post-graduate elite level athletes. The Selection Committee used performances from 2021 and 2022 in conjunction with the World Athletics Event Rankings as guides in the selection process.
On Sunday, a group of spiders head to the Virginia Grand Prix hosted by the University of Virginia.
Tamar Accius and Kyra Blakeslee are defined for the 100 and 200 m dashes.
Isabelle Blaylock will run the 800m as well as the 1500m with Snow Lilywhich is also ready for the 5,000.
above the hedges, Kamryn Ross is intended for the 100 m hurdles and Gabrielle Beneducci and Amaya Jackson will be in the line of fire for the 400 m hurdles.
In the pits, Grace Mittel, Kayla Wood and Morgan Crocker are entered in the long jump, with Crocker also doing the triple jump.
To finish, Maddie OrrAccius, Woods and Ross will race in the 4×100.
