The popular Chautauqua Striders youth athletics development program is slated for this summer and registration is now open.
Young people from the region are invited to participate in the program which begins on June 13 and will run on Mondays and Wednesdays until July 13. Each session will begin at 6 p.m., end at 8 p.m., and be held at Strider Field at 195 Martin Road in Jamestown. .
The program aims to encourage and promote participation and competition in the sport of track and field for students aged 5-14. Parents and students are introduced to the sport of track and field, which allows young athletes to choose from various activities such as sprinting, show jumping, running, jumping, shot put and others.
“This program has been appreciated by young people from all over the region for several years”, said Lexi Lindamer, sports coordinator for Chautauqua Striders. “We are thrilled to be offering these activities again for 2022 and are thrilled to invite young athletes to experience the excitement and fun of the Youth Athletics Development Program.”
Registration will be open until June 30. Those who register by today will receive a t-shirt. Late registration will be available at any practice or competition. The cost for an individual athlete is $75 while the cost for multiple athletes will be $60 per athlete. During Independence Day week, sessions will take place on Tuesday July 5th and Wednesday July 6th. Make-up dates will be reserved for July 18 and July 20 in the event of cancellation of sessions due to weather.
