The Government Lottery Office (GLO) board has decided to sell 5 million government lottery tickets through the Ministry of Finance’s Paotang app from the June 16 draw.
GLO Chairman Lavaron Sangsnit and other lottery office executives told a press conference that to prepare for online sales, GLO invited about 10,000 vendors to apply for participation in from June 2.
The GLO will also allow associations, foundations and other organizations that have its lottery ticket quotas to sell their tickets through the online system.
Through this medium, people can buy sets of their favorite ticket numbers at the official price of 80 baht per ticket.
When lottery ticket sales through the Paotang app were popular, more vendors participated and the number of tickets available online could reach 10 to 15 million per draw, Lavaron said.
This would represent more than 2-3 million tickets sold through each private platform and should eventually reduce the public price of government lottery tickets to 80 baht per ticket, he said. (TNA)
