Wudda U Think Now Among Saratoga Winners | Saratoga Racetrack Coverage

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Wudda U Think Now won the John Morrissey Handicap, one of several races held for horses bred in New York State at Saratoga Racecourse on Friday.

Wudda U Think Now has won three of the four starts this year. The win gave coach Rudy Rodriguez his first win in 44 starts at Saratoga.

“He doesn’t need to be in the lead,” jockey Trevor McCarthy told NYRA. “Just the times he’s been in the lead he’s had super slow and comfortable splits. Today we had a great setup and Rudy had it 100 per cent today.”

Local horse Reggae Music Man finished second. The horse, owned by Ginellen Racing in Hebron and the longest shot in the morning line, paid $12 to place.

Bankit won the Evan Shipman Handicap, edging out defending champion Sea Foam to the finish line. Bankit had not raced for more than four months.

“He gutted it today,” coach Steve Asmussen said. “Racing didn’t fill him out last time and he ended up having a trapped epiglottis and cured it. (He’s had) a few breezes back and he’s all class. I can’t say how great we’re proud of him Sea Foam has always done really well here in Saratoga and it was nice to come out on the bright side.

Bank On Anna picked up the first victory of her career in the Union Avenue Handicap.

“She broke well and I was there – I didn’t ask her,” said jockey Jose Lezcano. “When I asked her, she went on and won the race.”

Saturday’s card at the track is highlighted by the $500,000 Fourstardave Class I Handicap. The one-mile grass race, named after the beloved horse that has won year after year at Saratoga, is a winning qualifier and you’re in for the Breeders’ Cup Mile.

Regal Glory, the morning line favorite at 6-5, is the only mare in Fourstardave’s five-horse field. Regal Glory is 3 for 3 this year and has lifetime earnings of $2,111,009.

The Grade II Saratoga Special Stakes will also run on Saturday. Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 will broadcast all races from the track.
